Dallas is home to well-known architects, interior designers, business tycoons, professional athletes, the Real Housewives, and you guessed it – bachelors! While taking a peek inside our client’s new home, we had some fun adding a twist to the traditional and never forgotten “man cave” into something a little more sophisticated: Urban Masculine Pad. A nod to both luxury living and masculine energy. We took a large blank canvas, and transformed the space into a warm entertainment spot perfect for lounging during the day and hosting at night. With interior design trends continuing to evolve, we decided to incorporate biophilic design in the far corner as design experts are learning how healthy it is to bring nature into our home as much as possible. Journey with us as we experience Dallas living in a fresh new way.
Jackson Pollock inspired art grace the walls of the bachelor’s home. Our artist and painter created a custom wall treatment bringing a soothing feel to the room and texture. A simple gray, white, and blue pallet keeps the space in line with a simple masculine man; and a fun moto-inspired blue bench anchors the bed.
Reflected in the black iron framed mirror, you will find our sculptural friends – a unique installation of resin cast faces finished in deep black, both eye-catching and conversation starting.
Creating a stylish and functional entryway table involves a careful balance of aesthetics and utility. Introducing black modern accessories and books can infuse sophistication, depth, and personality into the space while serving as focal points for guests entering your home. Here’s a curated selection to consider:
- Geometric Black Vase: Choose a geometrically inspired black vase to hold fresh flowers or dried botanicals. Its striking silhouette adds visual interest and serves as a sculptural element on the table.
- Stack of Black Books: Arrange a curated stack of black-bound books or coffee table books on one side of the table. Choose titles that reflect your interests, whether it’s art, interior design, fashion, or literature. This not only adds texture and dimension but also invites curiosity and conversation.
- Black Decorative Bowl or Tray: Place a black decorative bowl or tray on the table to corral keys, wallets, or loose change. Opt for a piece with subtle detailing or a unique shape to add visual intrigue.
- Black Accent Mirror: Hang a black-framed accent mirror above the entryway table to visually expand the space and enhance natural light. The reflective surface also adds depth and dimension while complementing the modern interior design aesthetic.
- Sculptural Black Object: Incorporate a sculptural black object, such as a geometric figurine or an abstract art piece, to add a contemporary flair. Its unique form can serve as a conversation starter and elevate the overall interior design scheme.
By incorporating these black modern accessories and books into your entryway table decor, you can create a welcoming space that sets the tone for the rest of your home. Experiment with different textures, shapes, and finishes to personalize the interior design and reflect your unique sense of style.
In a large Dallas home, scale plays a vital role in defining the character and functionality of the space. Masculine interiors often emphasize clean lines, bold contrasts, and a sense of strength and solidity. When it comes to selecting furniture and art for such a space, ensuring that they are appropriately scaled is essential to maintain the desired aesthetic.
First and foremost, consider the size of the room itself. Urban living spaces can vary greatly in size, from compact apartments to spacious lofts. Understanding the dimensions of the room will help determine the scale of the furnishings and art that will fit comfortably within the space without overwhelming it.
When designing for a masculine aesthetic, furniture tends to be substantial, with clean lines and minimal ornamentation. Opt for pieces that have a strong presence and make a statement, such as a large sectional sofa or a sturdy wooden dining table with chunky legs. These larger furniture items anchor the room and establish a sense of solidity and strength.
Luxury homes deserve the “big and bold” art. Oversized artworks or statement pieces with bold colors and strong graphic elements can make a powerful impact and serve as focal points within the space. Consider large-scale paintings, photographs, or sculptural pieces that reflect the personality and interests of the client while complementing the overall interior design of the room.
Pay attention to the scale of other elements in the space, such as lighting fixtures, rugs, and accessories. Large pendant lights or floor lamps can add drama and visual interest, while oversized rugs can help define separate areas within an open-plan layout. Avoid cluttering the space with too many small-scale accessories, opting instead for a few carefully curated pieces.
While it’s important to select furniture and art that are appropriately scaled for the interior space, also consider the proportions of the individual pieces in relation to each other. Aim for a sense of balance and harmony between the different elements to create a cohesive and inviting home.
