Linda Baker is the Owner and principle designer at Baker Design Group Interior Design, which she founded in 2005 in Dallas, Texas. She has been recognized by many leaders in her profession and by the media for her excellent leadership and growth strategies in her businesses. Her enthusiasm for her profession is reflected in her ability to help her clients achieve their goals. She combines her passionate approach to life with her remarkable design talent. It gives her great pleasure to see how her clients embrace their newly designed spaces and how it impacts the way they view and enjoy their new environment.
Ms. Baker’s initial vocation started by studying Radio/TV/Film Broadcasting at Bowling Green State University, which served her for over twelve years in Houston, Texas with the large powerhouse radio stations KTRH, KIKK, KKHT and KODA. Her role in sales and management afforded her the opportunity to partner with sports franchises such as the Astros, Rockets and Oilers in the area of broadcast sales. Her experience with Westinghouse Broadcasting, Emmis Communications, and Viacom Broadcasting, exposed her to media moguls that positively shaped her outlook and thinking concerning success in business. Ms. Baker was proud to be honored on multiple occasions with the Westinghouse Award for Sales. She was also recognized among her peers nationally with the Winners Circle Award for Westinghouse Broadcasting and various other achievement awards while in the profession. During her tenure she served as President of the Houston Chapter of the American Women in Radio and Television (AWRT) a professional group pioneering the impact and advancement of women among the major networks in broadcasting.
In 1991 Ms. Baker founded a company called The Creative Branch, which launched her first venture into designing high-end florals and permanent tree replication. Her realistic design work with florals and plants led to a new idiom – permanent interiorscape and was sold to prestigious clients such as The Hyatt Regency; The Four Seasons; The Woodland Resorts; Methodist Hospital; Ethan Allan; and EXPO Designs; among her many commercial and interior design trade consumers. The authentic and life-like work with permanent interiorscape won her company the much sought after bid at the four diamond Moody Gardens Hotel, Spa and Convention Center in Galveston.
Ms. Baker was featured in Growth Strategies, a section in The Houston Business Journal that periodically features remarkable business success stories; along with a coordinated story presented on the ABC Television affiliate in Houston. Most recently, under her management, The Creative Branch was named a finalist for The Dallas Market Center Annual ARTS Award, a premier award program for the home decorative accessories industry. A move to Dallas in 2004 prompted the sale of The Creative Branch and a new partnership with a local Dallas designer where she quickly helped the company grow to a half-million dollars in revenue within the first year.
Ms. Baker’s enormous success encouraged her to establish Baker Design Group Interior Design where she has become one of Dallas’ premier designers. In addition to expanding her market in Dallas, the company is present and active in the Houston and Austin market through large scale renovation projects. For over 23 years Ms. Baker has applied a winning approach to new build, renovation and redesign of residential and commercial properties. She continually applies sensible, functional and innovative methods to her trade which results in interior design that can withstand the test of time.
Ms. Baker is pleased to have Vendao Oil and Gas; Nix Patterson & Roach LLP; Chicago Title; Republic Title; Kosmos Energy; Cigniti; The Frisco Bar; Centennial Medical Center; CIS Group; State Farm Insurance and Mercedes Benz of Plano among her list of discriminating commercial and residential clients. In addition to operating a successful design firm, Baker Design Group Interior Design has created its own seasonal market demand with its discerning, expressive and luxurious residential and commercial Christmas design and décor. Ms. Baker works tirelessly serving on numerous boards and committees for interior design, as well as local and national charitable organizations. While in Houston she served as an Industry Partner for the Board of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) for the Houston Gulf Coast region. Her work required extensive involvement as liaison between the design community and the multitude of affiliated vendors/contractors through events and classes supporting the interior design industry. She has volunteered with the local Boys & Girls Club of America and The Salvation Army. She is also currently active in the Dallas area with Exceptional Women Fellowship & Networking, an organization dedicated to providing a support network for Christian women in business unavailable in today’s corporate environment. Ms. Baker has long believed her strength in understanding and harnessing the power of marketing coupled with her strong business background has served her well and is often sought as a guest speaker on relevant topics such as Making a Well Run Business Look Easy, How to Successfully Grow Your Business and Common Mistakes Made in Business.
