2020 Hardware Trends

If you are looking to give your kitchen a budget-friendly update without having the downtime of a traditional renovation, our Dallas designers are here to help. You can easily change the overall look of your kitchen by updating old hardware with new and improved finishes.  Knobs, pulls and cabinet handles all play an important role in the aesthetics and functionality of a home.  They can create beautiful contrast or compliment interior colors.  Here is a list of Baker Design Group’s top 2020 hardware trends that are becoming must-haves for clients like you!

Trend #1: Over-sized pulls

For large kitchens, over-sized cabinet and drawer pulls are becoming more and more trendy.  Our designers use them in both modern and traditional homes. They add an elegant touch to the overall look of any kitchen.  They’re beautiful and very functional, too.  You can find over-sized pulls as large as 18” in chrome, bronze or brass finishes.

Trend #2: Mixed metals

Mixing and matching cabinet handles and knobs are in trend and relevant for every design job.  Applying metallic tones with similar shades can add visual interest and depth to any home.  A good rule of thumb is limiting yourself to mixing two to three different metal finishes.  To get started, our designers will install classic oil-rubbed bronze fixtures with warm champagne bronze hardware to combine modern and classic finishes.  To simply freshen up the hardware of your kitchen, try using one look for the upper cabinets and another style for lower cabinets.  Mix and match different style drawer pulls for a bold or decorative space.

Trend #3: Weathered finishes

Weathered finishes are primarily used for rustic and farmhouse styles.  It gives a warm and charming feel to kitchens or living space designs.  Weathered hardware includes brushed nickel, brass and bronze.  For this style, our Dallas designers will always think rustic and raw interior design materials.  Pair with surfaces that include wood-like tiles, two-toned cabinetry or distressed kitchen bar stools.  Pair bronze or oil rubbed handles with shaker cabinets for a beautiful farmhouse design.

Trend #4: Matte black

You can never go wrong with black (as we have mentioned in previous blog posts).  Give your kitchen a sleek look and sophisticated feel with all matte black hardware.  It’s versatile and works with practically any decor styles.  For inspiration, our designers start by pairing matte black hardware with marble subway tiles and vintage-style wood flooring.  Take it a step further and add in gold hardware accents to complement your cabinet color furthermore.

Trend #5: Champagne gold

Who doesn’t love gold, especially champagne gold?  Unlike most gold our designers have seen in previous designs, champagne gold gives the interior space an airier and more elegant feel.  It offers a beautiful contrast on dark surfaces like deep blue cabinets (which is a design favorite of ours), while adding a touch of luxury to your kitchen design.  What’s great about this color is how well it pairs with contemporary styles and modern designs.  You can either mix other hardware pieces with champagne gold or install the look with marble counter tops for a top designer’s kitchen look.
