Twenty years ago, Baker Design Group started with a vision for spaces that feel as good to live in as they look. On September 17, we opened the doors of our new interior design studio in Lewisville to celebrate that milestone with the people who helped make it possible: our clients, friends, vendors, trade partners, and families, including guests who traveled in from out of town to be there.
The theme for the evening was Around the World. And like every project we take on, the night began long before the doors opened, with a story and a vision.
Twenty Years in the Making
What began as a single design firm has grown into a family of brands: BDG Interior Design, Christmas Interior Decorator™, Curate Florals, and BDG Construction. Over two decades, our team has designed homes, offices, holidays, and gathering spaces across Dallas Fort Worth and well beyond, earning recognition as an award winning interior designer in Dallas Fort Worth along the way.
But the milestone we were most proud to celebrate was the team itself. Twenty years is a long time in any industry, and the talent, loyalty, and heart of the people behind BDG are the reason we got here.
The Story Behind "Around the World"
Every design we create starts the same way: with a story. Before we choose a single fabric or finish, we ask what a space should feel like and what it needs to say about the people who live there. Then every decision, from color and texture to layout and lighting, is made in service of that story.
We planned our 20th anniversary exactly the same way. Around the World was the story, and every detail of the evening was designed to tell it. The invitation set the tone before guests ever arrived, inviting them on a journey rather than to a party.
Passports, Food Stations, and a Tour of Our Interior Design Studio
The detail everyone was talking about? The passports. Each guest received one at check-in, and it became their guide for the night, leading them from destination to destination throughout the studio.
Those destinations were our food stations, each one placed with intention in a different part of the new space. Rather than gathering in a single room, guests traveled through the entire studio, discovering our design spaces, our team’s workspaces, and the new art and acrylic pieces from recent projects along the way. It was a tour of our home, disguised as a trip around the world.
That is not a coincidence. It is the same thinking we bring to every home we design: how people move through a space, where they pause, where they gather, and what they discover along the way. Good design guides you without you ever noticing, and so did the passport.
The Details That Made the Night
As a full service interior design firm, we believe the details are what turn a beautiful space into an unforgettable experience, and the evening was full of them. A signature drink was served in custom BDG cups. A welcome board at the entrance collected signatures from guests as they arrived, and it is now a keepsake of the night. Music filled the studio, our team led tours of the new space, and every guest went home with a gift bag.
Each piece was small on its own. Together, they created an evening that felt effortless, which, as anyone who has worked with us knows, takes a great deal of planning.
