With our recent return from April’s High Point Market, juices are flowing, wheels are turning and inspired creativity is at an all-time high for the design team.
One element of design easily inspired by the beautiful showrooms and the glitz and glam of the shiny and new, is accessorizing. The showrooms that hold these designers’ attention the longest, are those that have layered in luxe accessories to showcase their new intros and welcome every visitor.
Beyond looking into upholstery and case good lines, we are always sure to gather accessories and inspiration for these final layers that add so much to a space. Creating these vignettes takes a level of sophistication for that effortlessly chic look.
Here are a few methods we implement to create our own inspired accessory vignette in each client’s home or work place!
1. Use a tray to create a concentrated focal point!
Trays are offered in so any finishes, from bright colors to metallic leafing, wood stains to mirroring and even fabric and leather textures. Using a tray can anchor a spot on an ottoman or even a hard surface and create an excellent base for layers of all sorts of beautiful eye-candy, while keeping an organization to the collected look.
2. Brush up on your reading…Books!
We love ordering books to use for our clients. Getting to see the whole spectrum offered by Brian’s team with Go Home, we are able to pick out exact colors, patterns, and textures that will truly complement our design projects. While we run through gold, silver and gray books like water, the bright color pops are what truly set of the spaces and tie in fabrics, art and rugs that may be boasting some saturated colors. Use them on tables and shelves alike, laying down and standing up, these flexible little accents integrate perfectly with any and every sculptural elements.
3. Add some dimension with sculptural elements!
From bookends to birds, tall vases to pedestal sculptures, layering in these pieces of 3-dimensional designer eye-candy bring a level of sophistication to all accessory vignettes. Use unexpected objects as bookends and bookends in unexpected ways and you’re sure to get some wow-factor.
4. Bring on the florals!
Bringing the “life” factor to a space is so important…even if it’s artificial. While some more modern minds may turn a nose at the idea of florals, these are Grandma’s carnations. Layering in visually stimulating floral arrangements can deliver color, sculpture, height and life to a design project.
While there are plenty of other ways we love to bring in that final designer magic on install day, these are just a few of the basics that help us go from drab to fab!
