Our patio vendor has filled us in on the design trends of 2017, and now we’ll share them with you! We consulted with our patio expert Rep, Shawna, who sees the newest and best come through the doors at her showroom in the Dallas Market center and want to showcase three fabulous lines that are on trend with 2017.
“The trends and styles of outdoor furniture, much like indoor, are leaning toward cleaner lines, cooler colors with a more transmodern to warm contemporary look,” says Shawna.
So what’s on-trend this year?
Our first line has custom-on-custom detailing options! From metal frames for every individual’s taste and the ever-evolving trends in design to fabric paneling on the sides that allow for combinations of complimentary fabric, the design options in this line will make client’s orders one-of-a-kind.
This line was a hit with all the designers who came to market from all over the US in January, said Shawna. It has a beautiful, clean look to it with customizable fabric side panels to create a super unique one of a kind look for each and every space that utilizes this furniture. It’s also very comfortable!
The personalization is endless! We love this because it allows the designer and client to completely either integrate a patio design into the interior design of the home, create a completely new and complementary look to the interiors, or be bold and design the patio as an entirely different space.
The balance of beautiful basic design paired with the endless possibilities of customization in certain patio lines today allows designers to create spaces outdoors that are as to-taste as they have been able to do for interiors. In the past, patios felt more limited to certain poolside looks and patterns.
“The timeless linear styling and harmonious proportions of Drake make it a pleasing choice for any residential or public space. The durable frames feature a combination of cast and extruded aluminum that will stand the test of time, both aesthetically and functionally. Drake is an incredibly versatile line with the ability to easily satisfy a wide range of styles and personal tastes, from transitional to modern, with an abundance of fabrics, weaves, and finish colors to mix and match” – Gensun
The combinations of seating arrangements are endless with the deep seating options, modular lounge seating, and dining, bar and balcony chairs.
One of our favorite parts about patio design is the customization of fabrics and textiles that make each space unique. From pillows and piping to throws and rugs, the bones of the patio (the furniture) is filled out with the customized choices of each client.
As far as colors, soft neutrals, grays, taupes, and whites will always be in style, says Shawna. Then pizzazz and personality come into play with pillows rugs and accessories.
The color pallets of these Elaine Smith pillows speak to what’s relevant in the design industry across the board. Just as watching what’s on the runway of fashion, looking to designers at the introduction of their new collections can serve as a forecast the trends of the coming year. In the pillows above, we’re seeing attention to detail, texture, and patterns ranging from a watercolor look to even a tribal, updated twist on a Pendleton wool.
By mixing teak with brushed metal and adding modern furniture design twists, a classic becomes trendy!
“Teak is back, but it never really goes out of style truth be told”
“Teak in the natural, tawny, golden color as well as the soft gray already weathered look, has resurfaced and equates to an always classy, casual, timeless look. Pair it with stainless steel and it’s really a sleek, rich look that is super sexy,” Shawna tells us. We love this collection and 2017 patio trend because the furniture is a work of art. We respect the classics: the Adirondack chair, the teak staples, the classic lounge, but to bring intentionally new designs to the outdoors is a new venture!
I couldn’t leave you with a better photo. Who doesn’t want to hop in this scene for some nice weather and a good meal? This distinguished dining table with nice lines and an interesting frame adds a classic modern look to any outdoor room. We know the classic teak with updated chair and table leg design will be on-trend for years to come!
