From Unfinished to Fabulous: Transformation Tuesday

Two rooms of a beautiful home remained unfinished. While the homeowners had some existing elements that they wanted to work around, like the white bed in the master bedroom and the tiled fireplace in the study above, these two rooms in an otherwise beautiful home looked unfinished. Today’s #TransformationTuesday will show you how we took them from Unfinished to Fabulous!

Before:

After: dallas interior design master bedroom accessories

New, glossy wood furniture with accessories that bring warmth and texture to the room completely transform the once sparse areas of the television console and bedside tables to be the stars of the room! The carefully chosen accents are what give this room the Dallas Designer finish.

How about this bedding? Before, the bed looked underdressed. We filled out space in front of the beautiful headboard with pillows that complemented the warm/cool balance of the room overall, mixing grays, taupes, and a warm light yellow. Adding the light accent pillow at the front brought the white color of the headboard back around, like a period at the end of a sentence.

We love the design mix and layering of pattern and texture in this master bedroom.

Our Client/ Designer Goals for this Transformation:

  1. Transform the front formal living room that was being used as an unfinished office to become some more functional and enjoyable to spend time in.
  2. The front formal living room that was an office is directly off of the front entry and attached to the dining room. A goal was to make the room a welcoming addition from the entry and an inviting space off the dining room.
  3. Match the room’s purpose to the homeowner’s lifestyle. We found out that they enjoy unwinding at the end of the day with a glass of wine, as well as entertaining guests in an intimate setting. Creating a wine room was the perfect match!
  4. Work with existing elements (bed, lamps) in the master bedroom and give the room a more completed look by pulling together bedding, art, window treatments, and accessories.  We also added some more substantial nightstands and a dresser to have better balance in the room.

Our Dallas interior designers can help you define your goals by listening to your wants/ needs/ and dreams and seeing your space. When you live in a space daily, it’s easy to get used to the way it looks. Step back and have a consultation to see what possibilties a designer sees in your home!

The color palette provides a neutral base while the soothing blue that this family desired of this young family comes to life through the pops of yellow. Some pretreated Sunbrella fabrics are used to bring the outdoor durability into the indoors for young boys. Flexible seating is brought in through ottomans while an oversized sofa offers plenty of seating along with 4 additional club chairs.

So how did we go from before to after?

1. Designed around current color palette and existing furniture, enhancing both with additional colors and textures

2. Getting rid of forgettable furniture and bringing in several well-built statement pieces in the bedroom

3. Staying on a budget while still bringing larger scale elements to fill the room properly, along with accessories to tie it all together.

A round ottoman with center tray centers the room and brings all focus into the conversational setting.
