It is proof that a home can be playful at its edges and still feel entirely composed at its center, whether the swing is moving or still.
“We walked this porch at golden hour, and what stayed with us longest was realizing that even here, at the edge of the property, the swing still catches the river and that bridge in its sightline. She never has to choose between rocking in place and watching the water go by. On this porch, she does not have to choose anything at all.”
A black lattice swing, suspended on rope and dressed in cream cushions with palm frond pillows in blush and green, anchors one corner of the porch, with a black wicker chair nearby finished in a bold stripe. A few steps down, a run of white rocking chairs, chosen for their durability against the Ozark weather, pairs with a small side table set for two: a leaf-shaped pitcher, a cheerful ceramic cockatoo, and a set of hand-painted mugs waiting for their next glass of tea.
Further along the curve of the porch, a pair of bronze bistro chairs and a small round table offer one more place to pause, while at the front door, fiddle leaf figs in ribbed white planters and a brass lantern mark the threshold between porch and home.
