A Home Office from Far, Far Away…
There’s a particular kind of room that asks to be more than the sum of what’s stored in it. This home office was one of those rooms — a serious collector’s space with great bones and years of treasures that had outgrown their shelves.
At Baker Design Group, an award-winning interior designer serving Dallas-Fort Worth for more than 20 years, we approached this luxury home office design in Frisco with one idea: the room shouldn’t hide the collection — it should make it the star.
A Long-Standing Partnership Built on Trust
Some of our most meaningful projects begin not with a blank slate, but with a relationship. This client has been part of the Baker Design Group family for years, and that history matters. When you’ve spent time understanding how someone lives, what they love, and what a space truly needs to do for them, design stops being transactional and becomes something far more personal.
That kind of trust is what made this home office possible. Our client didn’t hand us a mood board and a budget. They handed us their passion. As one of the leading luxury interior design firms serving Frisco and the greater Dallas-Fort Worth area, we took that responsibility seriously — and had a lot of fun doing it.
the starting point
“A home office can be a showpiece and still be a workhorse. We took the hobby life and elevated it — practical storage and lit display, without compromising the fun of a cheeky, fully themed space. Star Wars command center, meet your design dreamers.” —Lisa Floyd, Lead Designer
The brief was deceptively simple: honor the collection, make the room functional, and lean fully into the theme. What followed was a deep dive into customized interior design that touched every surface, every shadow, and every hardware pull in the room.
From CAD to Creation: The Custom Design Process
This is where Frisco design at the luxury level truly distinguishes itself — not just in aesthetics, but in process.
The desk didn’t come from a showroom. It began as a CAD drawing; a concept shaped in close collaboration between our design team and the client. From there, we visited our vendor’s workshop in person, walking through every material choice, every edge profile, every finish. That kind of hands-on partnership is what transforms a good idea into a piece that feels completely one-of-a-kind.
The result: a striated metal laminate surface with color-matched high-gloss detailing and an LED toe-kick glow that gives the whole piece a suspended, almost hovering quality, equal parts command console and executive desk.
The cabinetry received the same level of attention. Each cabinet was meticulously designed and constructed to evoke the interior of a starship — clean lines, recessed hardware, integrated lighting, and a push-to-open mechanism that eliminates every visible handle. It functions beautifully. It also looks like something you’d find aboard the Executor.
the design, detail by detail
The Ceiling & Lighting
A Galactic-finish wallpaper wraps the upper portion of the room in deep, textured drama, while an orbiting LED ring chandelier in mixed metals serves as the room’s focal crown — part lighting fixture, part sculptural statement.
The Display Wall
Collectibles deserve more than shelves. Integrated LED lighting for collectibles illuminates each piece with gallery-quality precision, while push-to-open cabinetry keeps the look seamless. No visible hardware. No visual clutter. Just the collection, lit beautifully.
The Desk
Custom-designed from concept to fabrication — striated metal laminate, color-matched high-gloss surfaces, and an LED toe-kick glow. Every measurement, every finish, every detail was deliberate.
The Custom Touches
The details are where this project becomes truly exceptional: Millennium Falcon drawer hardware, a lightsaber light switch, a hair-on-hide rug cut in a bold geometric pattern, and floor-length metallic drapery that catches the light like a chrome hull panel.
“We designed the cabinetry as an art piece — clean storage paired with lit display to showcase every brick model and collectible. The desk is the show-stopping centerpiece, drawn up from daydreams and galactic energy, with its faceted shape, striated metal veneer face, and Millennium Falcon hardware. And the unsung hero? The galaxy-inspired wallpaper cladding the barrel ceiling, while LED ring fixtures orbit midair — function and design punch suspended overhead.” —Lisa Floyd
what customized interior design in Frisco, TX really means
Projects like this are why we do what we do. Customized interior design isn’t about applying a theme to a room — it’s about building a room that couldn’t exist anywhere else, for anyone else. It’s the difference between a space that looks designed and one that feels lived-in, loved, and deeply intentional.
As a Frisco designer working with clients across North Texas, we believe every room has a story worth telling and sometimes that story might even involve “the Force”!
the result
What began as a collector’s overflow became a fully realized luxury home office — one that functions as a serious workspace, a display-worthy showroom, and an unapologetic tribute to a galaxy far, far away. It’s proof that when trust, craftsmanship, and a little imagination collide, the results are out of this world.
