Easter Traditions from Our Team: Faith and Family Moments

Looking for Easter tradition ideas that blend faith and family fun? We asked our team to share their favorite ways to celebrate Easter—and their responses are full of heartfelt, faith-filled moments. From Easter baskets and church services to family meals and scripture reading, these traditions remind us of the joy and hope Easter brings each year.

Linda

Easter week is my favorite time of the year. We put this special cross in our front yard on Saturday evening to celebrate the Risen Christ on Easter morning. I love all the beautiful spring colors, which remind me of the new life I found in Christ in my early thirties.

Heather

After morning service and a lavish lunch, we love the thrill of hiding eggs in our backyard for our kids to hunt. As the kids have gotten older, the challenge has become harder—some years even require a dive into the pool!

Lisa

My parents always hid eggs in the house for us and gave us Easter baskets full of goodies, so I love playing that role now for my 4-year-old son. He asks for weeks in advance when he’ll get to hunt eggs—and this year, he’s requested a bunny costume in his basket… shhh, it’s happening!

Favorite Easter Treat:
I’ve been loving making M&M pretzel flowers for Easter gatherings—easy, colorful, and the kids adore them. Last year I even made little bunny versions!

Henri

Every year I dye eggs with my kids using melted wax to create fun patterns. Once you dye them and remove the wax, it leaves behind white shapes and lines. It’s such a fun creative tradition—especially with white eggs—and sometimes we layer colors for a cool effect.

Kay

My mom would hide small chocolate eggs around the living room. Some were easy, but a few were always hidden reallywell—she’d tell us if we missed any, so we’d go on a second round of hunting!

Favorite Easter Dessert:
My Hobdy used to make a three-layer coconut cake that was so delicious—soft, moist, and full of love. I’d give anything to eat one more slice. Here’s a recipe that reminds me of hers.

Libby

As a kid, I loved singing and playing handbells at sunrise services in my Easter best. My mom always made a bunny-shaped cake covered in shaved coconut, and we kept up the egg hunt tradition into our twenties! These days, we attend a later service and help host a community-wide Easter egg hunt on the church lawn—it’s fun for all ages and still feels like a celebration of Resurrection Sunday.

Sara

My mom still uses the same Easter baskets for me and my brother that we had as little kids. What started out as a way to hold our eggs has turned into a sweet tradition of getting adult “necessities”… plus some candy, of course. Seeing that childhood basket every year still brings me so much joy

Easter Meal Tradition:

Every year we make a roast with mashed potatoes and veggies. My mom and brother love cooking together and try to outdo themselves each year. My dad and I handle clean-up duty—we make a great team!

Jessica

Favorite Easter Dessert:

Carrot cake from Eatzi’s. It’s soooo good!

These sweet memories from our team are just a glimpse into what makes Easter so special: moments of joy, family, and deep-rooted faith. Whether it’s decorating eggs with kids, attending a meaningful service, or gathering around the table for a shared meal, these traditions remind us of the hope we carry because of the resurrection.

📸 We’d love to see how you’re celebrating—tag us in your Easter photos or stories so we can share in the joy with you!
