Today, we’re giving you tips on How to Style and Accessorize your Interior Design using Permanent Floral Pieces as Accessories.
If you think that your options for accessorizing are hard objects, books, and art- you’re forgetting a very important category! Permanent florals are not just for your grandmother’s home; today we’re illustrating that with some major inspiration.
You’ll see inspiration photos, as well as our own custom work in our Dallas interior design projects, of floral pieces that bring the perfect color, drama, and tie-it-all-together goodness that only a custom piece can bring. Organized by area of the home, scroll down to be inspired for your entire home; from the living room to shelving to patio.

Styled bookshelves HOW TO’s are some of the most popular searched terms by Pinterest users. It makes sense. In the Interior Design world, we have been artfully accessorizing bookshelves and etageres with decor as a way to combine function with beauty for all time, and some DIYers are eager to get tips on how to style and organize their shelves on their own.
In our Dallas Interior Design projects, we like to create several small custom pieces to bring into shelving areas. Whether it is a bookshelf or open storage in an entertainment center, adding the color and “life” of a permanent floral accessory is a way to tie in colors and break up metals, books, and other items that are usually neutral or dark colors that otherwise fill the shelves.
The subtle green brought into this natural wood focused entertainment cabinet and shelves is just what the space needed. In this interior design project in Westlake, TX, our permanent florals greatly enhanced nooks in custom shelving.
Orchids are elegant and SO versatile. With a change of container or creative addition of natural elements like driftwood or something more glamorous and on-trend like colored glass or crystal geodes, an orchid arrangement can go from classic and timeless to a statement maker that updates a space.
These three examples illustrate the adaptability to different styles that orchid arrangements have. In the three photos above, we’ve created a luxe piece using a matte gold container and broken glass stones, a floral with a naturalist look using succulents and driftwood, and a transitional piece that pairs driftwood with shaped loops of bright green grasses.
If traditional Dallas interior design is more your taste, a classic entryway arrangement with orchids and a chic container is the perfect way to update your space while staying true to your style.
Bringing in color, style, and life, interior design is enhanced by placement of permanent florals! The best part is that, once you find the perfect floral piece for your coffee or side table, you never have to worry about watering it.
In an Argyle, TX interior design project by Baker Design Group, our designers placed an orchid in a silver container that perfectly complimented the coffee table decor on the side table. We included the up close look to see the leaves that line the container and show through the metal- a unique design touch that we think turned out quite well.
