A Texas Beginning
What began as a simple design transformation in Frisco, Texas quickly evolved into something much more. When the Murillo family invited Baker Design Group into their home, they weren’t just looking for a refresh—they were ready for spaces that truly reflected the way they lived, entertained, and celebrated.
Their upstairs playroom, once filled with toys and bright chaos, became the blueprint for transformation. The BDG design team reimagined the space as a polished-yet-playful speakeasy lounge, blending bold navy tones with sculptural metallics and layered textiles. The gold-lacquered ceiling, patterned wallpaper, and built-in seating turned a forgotten room into the home’s most striking gathering spot—a place where family nights and cocktail hours coexist with effortless style.
“Our goal was to design a space that still felt warm and inviting but with an elevated, grown-up edge,” notes the BDG design team. “Every surface was chosen for its ability to catch light, add dimension, and invite conversation.”

A Holiday to Remember
That first collaboration sparked something deeper: trust. When the holidays approached, the Murillos knew exactly who to call. The BDG Christmas team swept in with the same sense of vision and detail that defined the family’s interiors—this time with garlands, florals, and décor that celebrated their unique style.
From a moody, modern stairway draped in rich plums, blues, and metallics to a whimsical fireplace scene featuring playful nods to the family’s love of holiday nostalgia, every inch felt both personal and elevated. The look balanced imagination with sophistication—proving that BDG’s Christmas installs can be as bespoke and thoughtful as the homes they decorate.
“For us, Christmas isn’t about simply decorating—it’s about storytelling. We design around memories, moods, and meaning,” says BDG’s floral and holiday lead.

By the time the Murillos purchased a second home in Savannah, Georgia, there was no question who they wanted to bring their vision to life. Having experienced BDG’s meticulous process firsthand, they sought to infuse their new coastal retreat with the same livable luxury that defined their Texas home—this time, reinterpreted through a softer, breezier lens.
While the Savannah design process is still underway, the BDG team sees it as an opportunity to showcase their signature balance of continuity and customization—carrying over the Murillos’ design DNA while embracing the natural textures and relaxed elegance of a Southern escape.
