This drab breakfast room was serving up cold vibes and getting lost in a dark brown abyss. Desiring a gathering place for family meals, kids’ homework, and game nights, a custom built-in was called to action.
Designing a tailor-fit breakfast banquette, we were able to bring both inviting seating and functional storage to the space. With hidden doors all along the base of the seat, there are opportunities to store the clutter away and even a spot to plug in and charge up, concealed within the cabinet door.
A perfect balance of cushioning and support makes up the seat cushions while a bold pop of graphic Ikat fabric spreads across the back paneling with exaggerated height, leading your eye to the wall-mounted cabinets. Upper cabinets provide opportunity for display to personalize the space, cubbies for schoolwork, and closed shelving for further storage and hiding the clutter.
Not only does the wall space become effectively useful, but a vertical visual appeal aides in truly completing this tailored space. Neo angles on the ends allow for ease of access and architectural design interest to both the bench and the upper cabinets. Crisp white paint on clean-lined shaker style panels make for a bright transitional look. From new lighting, and table and chairs, to sprinkles of color and pattern, this banquette stands out as a permanent breathe of fresh air and a family-friendly spot for breakfast and monopoly alike.
