Every spring, the design world descends upon High Point, North Carolina, for the largest home furnishings trade show on the planet. For Baker Design Group, this is one of the most significant weeks of the year—an opportunity to preview the future of High Point Market 2026 interior design trends and bring those insights home to our clients in Dallas and across the DFW Metroplex.
Color is having a moment
The restrained, neutral-forward palette that has dominated interiors for several years is making room for a bolder aesthetic. The colors leading the charge at High Point this season were deep and deliberate: forest green, burgundy, and moody deep teal. These were utilized not merely as accents, but as foundational tones across upholstery, cabinetry, drapery, and wall treatments.
If you have been waiting to embrace a bolder look in your space but weren’t sure if the design world was ready, the answer is a resounding yes.
Pattern: Go Big
Large-scale prints had a defining presence at this year’s market. Florals, tapestries, and oversized graphic patterns are replacing the smaller, more conservative prints of recent seasons. Today, pattern is being used to make a definitive statement, not just a suggestion.
Furthermore, wildlife motifs are being reimagined through an artistic lens. Rather than traditional animal prints, we saw painterly and illustrated interpretations appearing throughout showrooms on textiles, wallcoverings, and decorative accents, sophisticated and unexpected in the best way possible.
Texture and Craft
Burl wood remains one of the most coveted materials in luxury residential design, and this market doubled down on its appeal. Combination woods, pieces layering different tones, grains, and finishes, added visual complexity without sacrificing elegance.
Fringe and bullion trim also returned with confidence, bringing a sense of tailored craftsmanship to upholstery and drapery. Ornate framing is back as well, reimagined in updated finishes that feel entirely current.
Scale: The Bigger the Better
One of the most consistent themes across the market was the embrace of oversized scale. Large-scale floor lamps and statement table lamps with sculptural, exaggerated bases anchored numerous room vignettes. Additionally, light fixtures featuring onyx or marble-look glass added a moody, luxurious quality throughout the new collections.
Game tables emerged as a primary focal point for entertaining, a reflection of how the home continues to evolve as the center of social life. High-gloss finishes in bold, unexpected colors added a lacquered sophistication to otherwise organic spaces.
What This Means for Your Home
At Baker Design Group, we don’t just observe trends; we translate them. Every insight our team brings back from High Point feeds directly into the work we do for clients across Dallas and the DFW Metroplex.
Whether you are embarking on a full home renovation, refreshing a long-standing space, or starting from scratch on a custom build, the lessons we learn at market shape our recommendations for your project. The goal is always the same: a space that feels completely specific to the person living in it.
Meet the Duo Behind Baker Design Group
In honor of Mother’s Day being last weekend, we want to spotlight the duo at the heart of Baker Design Group, a firm that was quite literally built on a mother-daughter partnership.
Linda Baker, our founder and president, has spent more than 20 years building a firm around one non-negotiable principle: no two clients ever receive the same design. Every project is exclusively crafted, from beginning to end, around the individual.
Heather Mattox, our vice president and Linda’s daughter, brings the strategic vision that has helped position Baker Design Group as one of the most recognized luxury interior design firms in Dallas. Together, they lead a team that has designed spaces across the Metroplex—each one a true reflection of the client for whom it was created.
We are so proud to be led by these two. A very Happy (belated) Mother’s Day to Linda, to Heather, and to every mother in our BDG family and beyond.
If you’re ready to work with one of the best interior design firms in Dallas, we would love to hear from you!
