Every fall, the Interior Design Society (IDS) recognizes the best residential interior design in the country through its national Designer of the Year awards. This year, Baker Design Group brought home four of them.
After 20 years as an award winning interior designer in Fort Worth, Dallas and across North Texas, this is still one of the proudest nights of our year. We’re grateful to share it with our clients, our trade partners and the team behind every project.
A Night in Las Vegas
Conference week took our founder, Linda Baker, and Director of Interior Design Lisa Floyd to Las Vegas for education sessions, showroom visits and time with residential designers from across the country.
It all led to the IDS National Conference awards gala at the Bellagio on September 30. Linda and Lisa were in the room as Baker Design Group was called to the stage four times.
1st Place, Kids & Teen Rooms: The Pink Bedroom
This bedroom started as bare drywall and was designed with two sisters in mind.
The concept is a grown-up take on a cottage garden. Soft pink wainscot wraps the room and gives way to a vibrant floral wallpaper, which set the colors for everything else: blush and terracotta pinks, sage and emerald greens, and a pop of deep berry.
Matching scalloped twin beds in mossy green velvet anchor the room, with a scalloped wicker chest between them. An emerald dresser holds the opposite wall, and floor-to-ceiling drapery embroidered with pink vines frames the view outside.
The en-suite bath carries the pink through in quieter ways: the sconces, the veining in the countertop and a crystal flower light fixture. The result is a room that feels playful today and is designed to grow with the girls who live in it.
1st Runner Up, Bedrooms 151 to 300 sq ft: The Rustic Retreat
Every room comes with a challenge, and in this bedroom it was the window. It sat off center on the main wall, which made the whole room feel lopsided.
Our solution was floor-to-ceiling drapery that brings the wall back into balance. It’s the detail Lisa is proudest of in this room, and a big part of why the space feels calm the moment you walk in.
From there, the room leans into moody neutrals. Stained wood beams stretch across the ceiling, a black nightstand adds contrast, and a grid of natural stone pieces turns one wall into art. Soft taupes, warm wood and layered textiles keep it grounded and restful.
1st Runner Up, Health & Wellness Space: The Home Gym
Would you believe this brick is painted? The brick wall that gives this gym its character is entirely hand painted, and it’s the detail Lisa is proudest of in the space.
A mirror wall and windows keep the room bright and open. Integrated storage keeps equipment out of sight, so the gym always looks clean and ready to use. A neon sign adds a little personality, because a room you work hard in should still be fun to walk into.
1st Runner Up, New Construction 3,000+ sq ft: The Collected Estate
The fourth award recognized a home as a whole: The Collected Estate, built by Our Country Homes in Fort Worth’s Fleming Point community, with interiors by our design team.
The goal was a home that feels collected and lived in rather than staged. The Great Room, the Kitchen and Butler’s Pantry, the Primary Suite and the Study each have their own personality, yet together they read as one cohesive home. As Lisa puts it, “Our signature isn’t a look. It’s a feeling.”
Congratulations to IDS Dallas/Fort Worth
We also want to congratulate our IDS Dallas/Fort Worth chapter, chapter president Michelle Lynne Pant and the current board on receiving the 2026 IDS Chapter Leadership Award for their work leading the chapter this year.
This community means a lot to us. Linda is a past president of the chapter, and this year she joined fellow past presidents Nicole Arnold, Michael Bauer and Lori Withey to lead From Leadership With Love, a project that redesigned four homes for foster families with Pathways Youth & Family Services. We’ll share the full story of that project on LinkedIn this week.
Thank you to Our Country Homes, to our clients and trade partners, and to Lisa and the whole design team for the work behind these awards.
